about the owner
Bethanne Turnbull brings over 30 years of styling experience to spruce. She is a graduate of the world renowned Horst Institute, today known as the Aveda School of Cosmetology. Bethanne began her career at Horst salons, eventually becoming an educator for the advanced training program. Prior to founding spruce, Bethanne worked as an independent contractor at the highly regarded Thomas Charles Salon.
When not behind the chair, Bethanne enjoys being outside in a garden, in the woods, at the lakes, on a bike, on skis, but, mostly with her husband, Jon, and their dog, Gus.

The process of opening spruce was humbling indeed. Wonderful people that were, or became, friends showed up to help when realizing this idea felt nearly impossible. We won’t name names out of respect for some’s desire for anonymity, but each was a special part of bringing spruce into being and we are forever grateful.
